I have been thinking a lot about that phrase. I've heard it myself many times and I'd be willing to bet that I'm not the only one at smyrc who has heard those words.
Personally, I cannot see these two things as linked. If you feel the need to say that you don't like something, you obviously haven't truly accepted it. When you tell somebody that you don't like a basic part of who they are, it hurts, "acceptance" or not.
I know it seems a little like I'm preaching to the choir, but this blog was written with my family in mind. Good luck for everybody who's ever been reminded that they are not accepted.
